Restylane® and Hylaform® are crystal-clear, biodegradable non-animal hyaluronic acid gels.
Restylane®/Hylaform® are injected into the superficial layers of the skin with a very fine needle to soften the appearance of deep facial folds such as the deep lines or creases running from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Restylane®/Hylaform® can also be used to provide volume to areas of the face which have “deflated” over time such as the lips and cheeks.
These treatments require minimal or no downtime. Most patients immediately notice a softening of facial lines and wrinkles or more defined, fuller lips. Just as with Botox®, treatments must be repeated periodically.
In addition to hyaluronic acid gels, there are other injectable filler substances which can be used to soften facial folds and wrinkles and enhance the lips, such as collagen and fat injections.
