Jeuveau is the brand name for a neurotoxin or botulinum toxin, like Botox® Cosmetic or Dysport. Like other neuromodulators, Jeuveau temporarily blocks nerve signals in treated areas. This FDA-approved prescription medication is used to improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe wrinkles and fine lines on the forehead, the eleven lines between the eyebrows (glabella), and crow's feet. Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs) is an FDA-approved prescription neuromodulator used to temporarily improve the look of moderate-to-severe lines and wrinkles in the upper third of the face in adults. When injected by a certified and trained professional, Jeuveau temporarily blocks nerve signals in the injected muscles, inhibiting the release of acetylcholine, which is a neurotransmitter that controls muscle contractions. Jeuveau injections effectively reduce muscle activity in the treated area, smoothing dynamic lines and wrinkles commonly developed on the upper third of the face due to smiling, squinting, frowning, or other repetitive muscular movements.
Jeuveau is approved for use to improve moderate-to-severe glabellar lines or frown lines in adults temporarily. Glabellar lines, sometimes called "11 lines," are vertical wrinkles that develop between the eyebrows due to aging and repetitive muscular contractions in the area over time. Prior to your appointment, you will have a consultation to discuss your desires, medical history, skin analysis, and potential side effects of Jeuveau. On the day of your appointment, you should expect to spend 15-30 minutes at our Gainesville office, depending on the area receiving treatment. During your Jeuveau treatment, our APRN or PA-C will inject the neurotoxin into the targeted muscles using a fine needle. The procedure is relatively quick and simple.
In most cases, patients typically begin to see the effects of Jeuveau within a few days following their treatment. The full results of their treatment become more noticeable about two weeks following injections. The duration of the desired effects can vary from patient to patient. In general, results last for approximately 2‐4 months following injections. Continued treatments are recommended to maintain the desired outcome of your cosmetic treatment.
When administered by a qualified healthcare professional, like our certified injectors, Jeuveau injections are considered safe. Common side effects of Jeuveau may include swelling, bruising, and pain at the injection site. Patients can typically resume their normal activities immediately after their treatment, so long as they refrain from exercising for the rest of the day and do not lay flat for at least 4 hours after their treatment.
